Instrument Roller Clutch

A major U.S. Instrument manufacturer needed overload protection in a rubber drive roller. Working with the manufacturer, Machine Components Corporation was able to incorporate many of the customer’s existing roller parts into a new assembly having an integral, continuous-duty slip clutch. The bidirectional clutch slips at 5.0 oz.-in. in one direction and at 1.0 oz.-in. in the opposite direction. The unit is supplied to the customer preassembled as shown, including bearings. The polyurethane jacket is ground to a tolerance of ±.002″ on diameter, and is concentric to the shaft to within .002’T.I.R.
